When I post my planner spreads on social media or share planner tips with my audience, I really enjoy reading the comments from other moms as it helps me to continue to deliver value added content. As I read through the responses in one thread, and the most part, moms chimed in on their love for all thing’s planning and organization. But there were a few that were struggling with consistency and finding the time for planning. So being my inquisitive self, I decided to investigate. I read threads in planner groups and mom groups that I am a part of on social media to gain a better understanding of this dynamic. I really learned so much that I had to write a blog about it.
I’ve discovered that it is vital for moms, especially working moms, to have a planning routine. It is only successful if your method and routine fits with your:
It’s easy for me to pick up my budget planner and create a savings strategy because it aligns with my personality. For one, I love planning, as mentioned above. Second, I’m a thinker and love strategy and execution. The same is true when it comes to planning for my business and family. My preference is for paper planners; although I am slowly transitioning to more digital resources. I gathered that moms may struggle with consistency because they are leveraging the wrong method for planning and organization. For some, the thought of sitting down with pen and paper may be daunting. For them, I’d suggest an app or digital method
When moms say that they don’t use a planner but feel like it would make life easier, my response is it depends. I ask the following, “Will using a planner aid in your productivity”? If not, leveraging another method may be helpful. For me, I love seeing boxes physically checked off. I have a simple notes app on my phone that I also use to track tasks when I am on the go. Checking off each box and marking the tab as complete is so satisfying. Can anyone else relate? Let me know in the comments. This exercise motivates me to keep pushing towards accomplishing the things I set out to do. As I see the list being checked off, I can give myself pep talks to maximize the momentum I’ve gained.
What is your planning personality, preference, and productivity driver?

It’s very odd. But I don’t necessarily need a planner nor do I feel like it helps with my productivity. What has helped me is simply creating one goal that I want to accomplish in my day or one thing I want to accomplish within my week. Having a small goal helps me to focus on one thing and to pour as much creativity and quality into that one thing. I’m flustered by lists. I had to learn this the hard way because I would use a planner and create list just because it was what everyone else was doing.
Thank you for sharing! I love that you found a method that works for you. That’s what it’s all about.
I love planning helps me get my life in order and feel like I’m actually accomplishing what I set out to do.
