How to determine a personal organization system for you and your family
As purpose-driven women life can pull us in various directions. Would you agree? Personally, I find myself juggling competing commitments constantly. At times it can get overwhelming. It is in those moments that I pause and plan. Planning has proven to be such a helpful practice for me and most importantly it helps to reduce feelings of overwhelm and burnout.
Over the years, I have had the opportunity to connect with professional mothers from all industries. Additionally, as a coach and strategist, I have been able to observe the struggles working moms face to balance and navigate their journey. The biggest lesson that I have learned is that effective organization, productivity, and planning systems vary greatly from mom to mom.
Finding Your Fit – Planning Systems
According to Merriam-Webster, a Planner is something (such as a device, program, or notebook) that provides a schedule and is used for planning activities, travels, etc. I believe a planner can be some more than that. Especially for working mothers, a planner or planning system can be a lifeline. Basically, the process that keeps everything working smoothly.
If you are looking for a planning system that is going to work for you and your family consider the following:
- Preferences
- Style
- Motivation
- Availability to plan
- Goals
- Personal needs
Once you determine some elements of the above begin researching planners and systems that will enable you to accomplish goals and balance life successfully.

Planning Systems that Actually Work
I’ve found that some women are skeptics. They struggle to understand the transformational nature of having systems in place to organize life and manage time. I encourage women with this mindset to lean into planning systems to better navigate their journey.
It may take some time to find the best fit system but I guarantee it is worth it.
