Great advice about journaling I received from my therapist!
Keeping a journal to write down our thoughts is great for mental and emotional well-being. I can attest to the impact on my well-being that journaling has given me. My therapist encouraged me to journal my thoughts, emotions, and day more regularly. It was something that I would do in the past but the way my life has been set up over the past year. Journaling fell off my to-do list. Over the past several months, I’ve made it a priority and my mental focus has increased while my stress levels have decreased.
From my experience, journaling is an impactful daily habit for busy moms!

Imagine life without a way to decompress!
As busy moms, we often juggle numerous responsibilities. Journaling provides a space to unload stress, express feelings, and reflect on challenges, helping to manage the emotional demands of motherhood.

Keep this in mind!
Journaling doesn’t have to be time-consuming to be impactful. Just a few minutes of reflective writing each day can make a significant difference.
Self-Discovery
Writing down your thoughts helps clarify your emotions and thoughts. Motherhood, especially working mom life, takes us through several emotions at any given moment. From work stress to family matters, our emotions can often get the best of us. Journaling has helped me to deal with the source of my emotions so I can get to the root of what is going on in my life and make adjustments. It allowed me to reflect on your experiences and gain insights into feelings and behaviors.

Revisit past journal entries!
This allows us to identify patterns in our thoughts and behaviors to gain a deeper understanding of who we are. We can also celebrate growth and progress!
Journaling the Past, Present, and Future
The beauty of journaling is that you can journal what you have been through, what you are going through, and what you hope lies ahead. When it comes to what to write in your journal, you can take a reflective or future-forward approach. I find both to be valuable. There are times when I will reflect on my day and there are times I will sit and journal my dreams!
And the LORD answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.

3 often overlooked benefits of journaling that my therapist helped me to understand:
1) Free writing stimulates creativity, generates innovative ideas, and new perspectives.
2) Gratitude journaling helps to acknowledge and appreciate the positive aspects of life therefore improving overall happiness.
3) Journaling enhances your communication skills by allowing you to articulate your thoughts more clearly.
To Wrap it Up
I encourage you to allocate time in your day to journal your thoughts. It is a helpful practice that does not require a ton of structure, prep planning, and fanfare! I share additional tips and insights in the videos below!
