Can Skin Care also be Self-Care for Busy Moms?

Find products that are going to be relaxing such as facial mask, eye patches, etc. Once a week, I like to apply a mask and lay down in the bed while it sits. I used to put a mask on and finish housework but I stopped doing that. I now use that time to just relax!

Hey Mom, can I be honest for a minute?  For the longest time, I have viewed skin care as self-maintenance as opposed to self -care.

Self- maintenance, to me, is something more along the lines of personal upkeep.  You know what I mean… like brushing our teeth.  It’s something we do to maintain healthy bodies. I personally don’t consider brushing my teeth as self-care since self- care has a more soothing and therapeutic aspect to it.

The more I started exploring various skin care brands and trying new products, I’ve discovered that skin care can be, and is also, a form of self-care! For us busy moms, self-care is so important! We need to leverage every opportunity to nurture and care for ourselves. Skin care routines provide a quick win for accomplishing daily self-care goals.

Here are 3 ways you can incorporate skin care into your self-care routine:

1- Typically, when you’re preparing for the night, you are by yourself attending to your personal hygiene.  That’s the perfect time to decompress from the day and spend time alone with your own thoughts. Sing, pray, meditate, and melt the day away.

2- Find products that are going to be relaxing such as facial mask, eye patches, etc.  Once a week, I like to apply a mask and lay down in the bed while it sits.  I used to put a mask on and finish housework but I stopped doing that.  I now use that time to just relax!

Serums are a great addition to your skin care routine.   Taking a few extra moments to massage the serums and/or oils into my skin is so relaxing.  Not only that, but it leaves my skin looking refreshed, hydrated and oh so smooth.

If you want to go all out, you can invest in a facial massager which is a great way to release muscle tension in the face.

3- Do not rush the process.  Even if you are not a fan of skin care products, that’s OK! Whatever your routine entails, take your time and enjoy the moment alone.

What is your skin care routine?  How will you elevate your practices so that the focus is more on self-care overall? Let me know in the comments!

Christmas with Kids: Your Presence is the Best Present

Christmas has always been my absolute favorite time of year. I recall several memorable moments from my childhood and am excited about creating memories with my kids. I believe a parent’s presence is the best present of all. Typically, my children receive one “large” gift each, and we focus more on experiences. They also purchase…
