A simple framework to execute your goals
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” – Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. This is one of my favorite quotes and something that I take seriously. When goals are set, it is important to have a plan to accompany the vision. I’ve noticed that it can be challenging for some to translate their goals into actionable steps. It can also be a bit overwhelming. In today’s post, I will share how to turn goals into plans and a simple framework to execute goals.
Turning Goals into Plans
A simple way to turn goals into plans is to start with your overall life vision. From there separate out short-term and long-term goals. Goals are the foundations for plans. It is essential to set goals in S.M.A.R.T. Goal format.
Specific
Measurable
Attainable
Relevant
Time-bound
Goals set in this format are often more intentional and clear. Clarity drives more consistent execution on a daily basis. I encourage moms who I coach to set goals first, in this format, then plan.
Daily Planning
Planning each day should account for our lives, our commitments, and the parts of our goals that require execution. Once goals are set, it is important to break down the goals into small actionable components that get incorporated into the daily plan.

- Timeblock plan in order to allocate time to accomplish goals
- Keep goals at the forefront of your mind and plan accordingly
- Take small steps each day in order to turn plans into goals
To Wrap it Up
You can turn your goals into plans as long as you have clarity about your goals and plan with intention. I enjoy writing out my goals and associated action steps. The action steps become the plans that we execute.
