Let’s welcome the “Ember Months”
The “Ember Months” refer to the final four months of the year, namely September, October, November, and December. This term is widely recognized in certain cultures, particularly in Africa and other regions, to signify this specific period. These months hold significance for various reasons, such as cultural and religious festivities, changing weather patterns, and preparations for the upcoming new year. In some traditions, these months are associated with reflections on the past year and preparations for the year ahead. As we welcome the “Ember Months”, today I will be sharing my Fall Vision Board of activities and activity ideas for my readers!
Hello Fall
One of the first activities in the Ember Months is the transition from summer to fall. The first day of fall, the autumnal equinox, marks the official transition from summer to autumn, typically occurring around September 22 or 23 in the Northern Hemisphere. The first day of fall in 2024 is September 22, 2024. On this day, the hours of daylight and darkness are nearly equal, symbolizing balance and change.
The thing that I love most about Fall is that it brings cooler temperatures, vibrant hues of red, orange, and gold as the leaves begin to change, and a sense of coziness with shorter days. It’s a time for harvest, reflection, and preparation for the slower pace of winter. As the season shifts, I will be embracing the crisp air, warm drinks, and the beauty of nature’s transformation.
Fall Vision Board
Here are a few of my favorite fall activities:
- Travel (specifically to enjoy a the seasons changing)
- Scenic drive – perhaps through the mountains
- Fall inspired coffee at a new local shop
- Outdoor fitness to take in the crisp air
- Apple Picking
- The pumpkin patch
- Back fall inspired treats with my kids
- Fall inspired spa treatment
- Enjoy a football game – it’s been years since I have been to a game in person
- Enjoy a costal town – who says the coast/beach is just for the summer. I think it would be fun to enjoy during the fall months

To Wrap it Up
Fall offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy activities that capture the season’s beauty and charm. From scenic drives through the mountains and sipping fall-inspired coffee to outdoor fitness in the crisp air and apple picking, there’s something for everyone. I look forward to creating fun memories with my kids at the pumpkin patch or baking treats together. For relaxation, and some much needed self-care, I equally look forward to indulging in a fall-inspired spa treatments. Fall is ideal for both adventure and relaxation.
