Summer Selfcare for On the Go Moms

Incorporating self-care into your summer routine is not just beneficial but essential for maintaining your well-being as an on-the-go mom.

Summer does not slow down! At least not for my family. Actually, the summers are the busiest and not to mention the most expensive. With vacations, kids out of school, and endless activities, it’s easy to get caught up in the whirlwind and forget to take care of ourselves. But for moms, especially those constantly on the go, self-care is crucial to maintaining energy and enthusiasm. In today’s post, I’m sharing the importance of proactive planning as well as my top 5 summer selfcare tips to help my fellow moms on the go navigate summer effectively.

The importance of proactive planning

Proactive planning is the cornerstone of effective self-care, especially during the demanding summer months. You create a structured environment that allows flexibility and balance by mapping out your family’s schedule and anticipating your needs. This foresight minimizes stress and ensures you can prioritize your well-being among the busyness. When you take the time to plan, you set yourself up for success, making it easier to juggle family responsibilities and personal care.

Summer Selfcare for Moms

Here are 5 Summer Selfcare tips for the mom on the go:

Prioritize Sleep

I get it; summer is a fun season! With beach-cations (beach vacations), bonfires, concerts, and other activities that keep us up all night enjoying the festivities, we can’t neglect a restful night’s sleep. Getting enough rest is essential for staying energized and effective throughout the day. Create a bedtime routine that signals to your body that it’s time to wind down, such as reading a book, listening to calming music, praying, or practicing mindfulness. Even if it means saying no to some late-night activities, your body will thank you.

Stay Hydrated

Water provides our bodies with numerous benefits! Hydration is essential during the hot summer months. I live in the South (Southern USA), and it gets hot. I’m used to it, having lived here my entire life. As someone who also travels, I know how hot other regions can get as well. If you’re reading this and you live in neutral climate areas, bless you. Enjoy the nice weather.

Remember to carry a reusable water bottle wherever you go, and set a goal to drink at least eight glasses of water daily. Infuse your water with fresh fruits or herbs like mint for a refreshing twist. Proper hydration helps keep your skin glowing, maintains energy levels, and supports overall health.

Incorporate Quick Workouts

One of the reasons summer is so busy for my family is because my kids run track. I’m a track mom! This activity requires a lot of practice and track meets that can last all day. During their practice, I walk around the facility. This is a quick workout and give me something productive to do while I wait. I will start taking free weights with me to practice so I can do some quick conditioning as well.

Finding time to exercise for on the go moms can be challenging, but short, effective workouts can easily fit into busy schedules with a little thought and proactive planning. Perhaps, consider incorporating high-intensity interval training (HIIT) routines, which can be done in as little as 15-20 minutes into your rotation. You can also involve your kids in physical activities like biking, swimming, or even a game of tag at the park. Exercise is a fantastic way to boost your mood and energy, which is why this selfcare activity is so important.

Schedule Me Time

By now, we all know the importance of effective selfcare. Whether it’s a quiet cup of coffee in the morning, a solo walk in the evening, or a hobby you enjoy, make sure to schedule these moments regularly. Use this time to recharge and do something that brings you joy and relaxation. Remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish; it’s necessary for your well-being.

Plan Proactively

Last but not least, proactive planning is essential to summer selfcare routines. One of the most effective ways to ensure self-care during a busy summer is to plan ahead. Create a family calendar to organize activities, trips, and appointments. Knowing what’s coming up allows you to allocate time for self-care activities and avoid last-minute stress. Meal planning and prepping can also save time and ensure you eat nutritious meals even on the busiest days. Proactive planning helps you stay in control and reduces the likelihood of feeling overwhelmed.

To Wrap it Up

Incorporating self-care into your summer routine is not just beneficial but essential for maintaining your well-being as an on-the-go mom. Proactive planning is the cornerstone of effective self-care, especially during the demanding summer months. By mapping out your family’s schedule and anticipating your needs, you create a structured environment that allows flexibility and balance.
