How to plan a relaxing stay for Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is here! I’m looking forward to an elevated moment of relaxation. If you’re like me and ready to hit pause on the beautiful chaos of everyday life and treat yourself to a well-deserved staycation this Mother’s Day, I have three tips to help you plan.
As a working mom, finding time for self-care can feel like a mission impossible. However, I’ve got the ultimate solution: a Mother’s Day staycation. Have you considered a staycation? Picture an amazing day filled with your favorite relaxing activities and indulgences, all within the comfort of your city.
Stay Local: Book a Hotel
First things first, escape the familiar surroundings of home and treat yourself to a change of scenery. You can do this by booking a local hotel or Airbnb. Look for luxurious accommodations, such as a spa, pool, or cozy robes and slippers. Top it off by opting for a room with a comfortable king-sized bed where you can sink into plush pillows and enjoy uninterrupted sleep. Many hotels offer special Mother’s Day packages, so inquire about any promotions or deals when making your reservation.
My staycation reservations
Staycations are not new for me. I thoroughly enjoy mini getaways. Particularly because I love to travel. Second, getting out of my element (my home) is an excellent reset for me.
In the past, I’ve booked with points or found special deals to benefit from. Primarily, I use my rewards points.

I was able to book a fabulous Myrtle Beach Resort Room using points during off season. It was extremely affordable and a great getaway for 2 days.
I’ve yet to try a staycation with a local Airbnb. I feel like these lend themselves more to longer stays. Let me know in the comments if you prefer hotels or Airbnbs.
Spa Day Solo
What’s a staycation without a little pampering? Schedule a solo spa day to melt away the stress and tension of daily life. Treat yourself to a massage, facial, or manicure/pedicure – whatever makes you feel like the queen that you are. Many spas offer special packages designed specifically for busy moms, so take advantage of the opportunity to indulge in some much-needed self-care. Don’t forget to pack your favorite book or magazine to enjoy while lounging in the relaxation area.
Don’t skip the relaxation lounge
Listen, mom, do not skip the relaxation lounge. Ensure you read the terms and arrive with ample time to enjoy all the amenities. My local spa has a sauna and a relaxation lounge with hot tea, water, and a light treat. I spend as much time as allotted in the relaxation lounge, savoring each and every moment.
Dinner for One
Cap off your Mother’s Day staycation with a delicious dinner for one at a local restaurant. Choose a cozy spot with an ambiance where you can savor a glass of wine and indulge in your favorite culinary delights. Treat yourself to a decadent dessert – after all, you’ve earned it! Use this time to reflect on all that you’ve accomplished as a working mom and to celebrate the incredible woman that you are. And hey, if you’re feeling adventurous, why not try a new cuisine or restaurant you’ve been curious about?
Don’t be afraid to dine solo
Embrace the opportunity to enjoy a moment of solitude, savoring each bite without interruptions or distractions. Dining solo doesn’t mean you’re alone – it means you’re giving yourself the gift of self-care and appreciation. Convinced? Now, reserve a table at your favorite restaurant, order your favorite dish, and embrace the joy of treating yourself like the amazing woman and mother you are. You deserve it!

To Wrap it Up
So there you have it, the ultimate guide to planning a Mother’s Day staycation that will leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and appreciated. Remember, self-care isn’t selfish – it’s essential, especially for busy working moms like you. Treat yourself to a day of pampering and indulgence this Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day!
