How to make the most of your momcation moment!
I took my first momcation in February 2020. My trip was such a rejuvenating and rewarding experience that I’d be remiss to not share my planning and my experience with my fellow working moms. If you’ve never heard of the term momcation, it is a term used to describe a vacation or getaway for moms to take a break from their everyday responsibilities, refuel, and recharge. If you’ve never been on one, I highly encourage it. In today’s blog post, I am sharing my most memorable travel moments, where I’m going next, and my biggest planning tip.
Benefits of Solo Trips for Busy Moms
Regular momcations, or solo trips for mothers, contribute to overall well-being and fulfillment. Momcations offer an opportunity to unwind. It is in these moms when moms can de-stress and rejuvenate providing both mental and physical benefits. I typically set aside time during my time away to reflect. Stepping away from my daily routine gives me a fresh perspective on life and my various roles.
If you are nervous about traveling solo, I completely understand. I was nervous too at first. But I decided to step out on faith and I have not looked back since. To me, traveling solo fosters independence and empowers me to navigate new experiences on my own for my benefit. It has enhanced my confidence and resilience, which can positively impact other areas of my life.
Overcome Your Solo Travel Fears
If you’d like to take a momcation but have a fear of traveling solo here are my top 5 ways to overcome your fear. I’ll also share tips on how to enjoy the benefits of a momcation in a less stressful way.
5 Ways to Overcome Solo Travel Apprehension
1 – Travel to known tourist-friendly destinations
2 – Travel to destinations where friends and family are near
3 – Start with a quick trip (ie. overnight or weekend)
4 – Start by traveling with a small group organized travel company
5 – Just go for it and overcome your fears
Less Stressful Ways to Momcation
If you are apprehensive about traveling solo or feel overwhelmed about taking time off from work or away from your kids, here are a few less stressful ways to enjoy your momcation!
THE MOST UNIQUE APPROACH – Take a staycation! Stay local and enjoy an overnight stay at a nice local hotel
SHORT AND SWEET – Take a daycation with no overnight stay involved. Go to a local spa or hotel with a nice spa and hang out there for the day. Enjoy the spa, on sight amenities, and restaurant(s).
FRIENDS AND FAMILY – Go and enjoy friends or family for your getaways. It’s always refreshing to catch up with loved ones.
