“Leaves are falling, autumn is calling.” – Unknown
I’ve shared my love for fall across all of my social media platforms and this blog. No shame here!! I will not deny my love for the fall season. In today’s post, I am sharing 15 fun fall activities for busy families.
Managing Busy Family Life
The kicker is, as much as I love fall, this also happens to be a super busy season for our family. In all honesty, I am not sure why our calendars fall (no pun intended) this way. Summer is eventful in terms of birthdays, family activities, and vacations, but I feel like that is more manageable than the hustle and bustle of fall and winter. It’s strange and I’m not even sure I’m describing it well enough for you to understand.
Maybe the reality is life is just busy for families overall. Whatever the case may be, it’s important to ensure a “family first” mindset when it comes to work-life balance. Don’t miss out on all the fun fall brings because you’re knee is deep in reports, running from meeting to meeting, and typing away on the keyboard. After you review this list and commit to doing some fun activities with your family. Promise? Drop me a comment and let me know what you will do or have done.

Our Favorite Fun Fall Activities
Some of the activities on this list, we have yet to do as a family, but I look forward to working these things into our schedule. Tried and true activities for us includes apple picking, pumpkin patches, pumpkin decorating, and crafts. We have the most fun collecting leaves and pinecones to decorate. These are seemingly simple activities, but my kids thoroughly enjoy them.
Our neighborhood hosts an annual pumpkin decorating event. I’m thankful for my neighbor’s generosity and willingness to host this event year after year. It’s been more socially distanced over the past year and will be the same this year. We are looking forward to decorating our pumpkins that we will get from our local farmer’s market.

Incorporate Fun Fall Activities Into Your Schedule
Here are some ways to ensure you are able to incorporate the fun of these moments into your schedule.
Plan ahead and schedule
Get your kids involved and allow them to pick out their activities. Trust me, they will keep you accountable, on time, and on schedule.
Take PTO and use the opportunity to enjoy your family. Places tend to be less crowded during the weekdays. Hint… hint!
Honor your timebox. Don’t schedule activities that may run over and interfere with your scheduled activity times. If you are going to log off early from work to go on a nature walk, end your day with enough time to fully enjoy your activity.
